Lindsey, Becca, and I decided it would be a fabulous idea to have a yard (well, driveway) sale in Texas in AUGUST! To say that it was hot, was an understatement! Lindsey and I headed out the night before to hang signs on street corners- not the safest place to be hanging out around midnight! We almost got Lindsey's truck stuck at "Dave's" a little ice cream/hamburger drive-through joint that uniquely doubles as a used car lot??! I guess once you buy the car you can try it out and celebrate with ice cream all at the same time. After tagging all of my "merch," I finally hit the sack around 2 am. Matt says that I could have gotten to bed much earlier if I didn't insist on color coding everything, numbering each item (which conveniently could be cross-referenced on my master list), and adding up my total selling potential. I swear, I am not usually this OCD!
After 3 hours of sleep, I was up and ready to make deals. I had a few smart customers, but I swear, some people just wouldn't know a good deal if it hit them in the face! People were passing up all of the great, well-taken care of items, and were magically drawn to the JUNK! I sold more "cheap" clothing than I did nice (Ann Taylor, Express, etc) and they were all the SAME PRICE! The only way that I knew what was sold was because I could track my items via my "master list!"-- see, it did serve a purpose!
I felt so sorry for Lindsey, as she got her lawn mower (don't worry, not the real thing, just a toy) ripped off by some weird, bearded man. This is her, "are you kidding me, it was only $1" face.
