I have totally slacked on the updates lately- mainly from our lack of air conditioner (see following post)- but things haven't exactly been quiet around here. Last Tuesday I was admitted to the hospital to get steroid shots for baby girl's lungs. Everything went fine and I only had one episode of contractions. I was released Wednesday morning- just in time to get a shower and wait for Matt to get home. He got to stay through Monday, which was a nice change of pace. My uterus stayed fairly quiet the entire time he was here... until last night... Around 3 am I began having painful contractions. After 2 hours of trying everything I could think of to ease the pain, I called my Mom to take me to the hospital. I was admitted immediately and put on the monitors. I was contracting every 2-4 minutes, so the nurse ran in with a shot of terbutaline. I spent the next couple of hours flushed and nauseous, but not contracting. We were able to get everything under control and my cerclage was still holding strong, so I headed off to my scheduled ultrasound to check the baby's growth. Everything looked great and the ultrasound tech estimated that she weights 6 lbs 2 oz at 35 wks and 3 days. I left the hospital knowing that my next appointment would be my cerclage removal. So, until next Monday, I am back on my back, taking lots of contraction meds and hoping to make it 6 more days with no more trips to Labor and Delivery. Did I mention that now I remember the pain associated with labor...how quickly we forget...now I have major anxiety!!
