May Fools!

I know, it's a little late for an April Fool's joke, but we just couldn't resist! A few weeks ago Matt's parents visited us from Kentucky. They decided to do a package airfare/hotel deal. The were booked at the lovely La Quinta Inn near us. Matt and I didn't stop by, but apparently staying there was a real treat! His mom even told us that had she come by herself, she would have refused to stay there alone! Anyway, despite the outdated decor and run-down rooms, at night they crashed at the La Quinta. Each night they watched a little television to get their mind off of the fact that they weren't exactly staying at the Hilton. (Just to clear this up, it wasn't a hotel, but a motel- you know the one's with outside entrances- the ones that are always used in the scary movies) One evening the television was a little bit snowy, so Matt's dad called the from desk. Their advice was to HIT THE TELEVISION on the side. Oddly enough, it worked! So after all of the La Quinta stories, we decided to play a little joke on them concerning the TV. Here is the letter I wrote to them on La Quinta letterhead (that for some reason isn't showing up):

Dear Valued Customer,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your recent stay at La Quinta in Amarillo, Texas. Hopefully, you found your stay with us very enjoyable as we strive to create a great “home away from home” experience for all of our patrons. Having said this, we do have one concern that we would like to discuss with you at your earliest convenience. It appears that the television in the room you occupied no longer works. The in-house floor maids are required to check all electronics at the end of each stay and it was reported that the television was no longer working after your departure. Therefore, compensation will be necessary as we are required to replace said television before the room can be occupied again. As you could tell during your stay, we are in the process of upgrading our facilities and will be placing flat screen televisions in each room. We receive these at a reduced price, therefore you will not have to pay much more than wholesale value. The total cost comes to $603.57. Please make your check payable to La Quinta Inn & Suites, Inc. If you would rather pay by credit card, please contact Josh Morlan (manager). Also, feel free to call with any questions or concerns. I feel quite confident that this matter can be resolved quickly.

Thank you for your business,

Josh Morlan- Greater Amarillo Area Manager

Funny, huh? Well Matt's dad did call Josh- and lucky for Josh- he had to leave a message. When Matt finally called and confessed (soon after- we didn't want them to call the La Quinta Headquarters!), Glenn laughed and laughed. He said that he was going to give Josh a piece of his mind!
