For some reason I am a magnet to very strange people and find myself in interesting, odd, and uncomfortable situations often. A very interesting/odd/uncomfortable situation happened just tonight as I went to the Circle K to pick up a gallon of milk. Here's how it went:
me: (placing my milk on the counter and rustling through my purse for money)
cashier: how are you?
me: (still looking for money) I'm fine, how are you?
cashier: good, will this be all?
me: yep
**this is when it gets strange**
cashier: (in the middle of ringing me up, runs over to her purse, grabs a candy bar, and brings it back to the counter) Yum! Have you ever had one of these, it's a Thingamajig, kind of like a brother to the Whatchamacallit. They are so good! You want a bite? (holds the already bitten bar out towards my mouth)
me: um, no, but I bet it is good...(my face is smiling, but my brain is like what the???)
cashier: are you sure? It has peanut butter in it!
me: (amazed and confused by this conversation) no, really, it's okay...but I bet it is good...
(grab my stuff and get the heck out!)
Seriously? Who, in their right mind, would take a bite of someone else's candy bar (whom they did not know) after that person had already taken a bite themselves...what did she think I would say after she told me it had peanut butter in it? Did she think I would be like, "oh, well you didn't say it had peanut butter in it...in that case hand that thing over!!"
**cRaZy**...and they say there aren't any nice people anymore!
