9 month well check

I recently took Talmage in for his 9-month well baby check-up. He passed! The doctor was surprised by his "continuous growth spurt" and told us that he is in the 98-99th percentile for height (31 inches) and the 75th% for weight (22 lbs). We also have an appointment with his specialist in early November for some blood work and his "milk test" to see how well his body can handle milk sugars. Matt and I are hopeful that he will be able to handle the newly introduced dairy and be on a "normal" diet. We know that he does have 25% of the enzyme used to break down milk sugars into simple sugars, which should be enough to keep things running smoothly. We are also actively involved in galactosemia research by providing various organizations with updates on Tal's progress. Luckily, Talmage doesn't have the really bad form of galactosemia, but so many babies are being diagnosed with this because of the new newborn testing in the state of TX. My goal is to get all states to test babies for these metabolic disorders so that parents find out about possible issues before their baby gets ill. So many of these diseases can be controlled if caught early enough.
