Whether you are blog-stalking me or a regular reader- I don't care- please give me advice! As you know, we are currently in the process of building a house. We have to buy EVERYTHING- I think we are literally moving back with the kids (of course), clothes, a couch, 2 baby beds, and a big, furry cat. We have to purchase everything from flooring to "everything kitchen" to, well you get the point. Have you come across any good deals, website, etc. that I might be able to use to purchase the things we need. Any companies that you are particularly fond of? Advice on appliances, flooring, cabinetry, closet solutions, whatever- you name it! It's open forum! Give me your advice on all of the "stuff" we will need. Enlighten me!

You should call Andrea (502)542-8023 for carpet ideas. We just had some installed at our house and bought it through a lady in Arizona who was able to get us a killer deal. She knocked of around $1,000.00 from our prior estimates. And we got better quality carpet.
When we were building our house, we found the cheapest, and best selection, of light fixtures at Lowe's. For appliances, a lot of stores (ex: locally, Hamlin & Kersey) have really good buys on scratched or dinged appliances, and usually there's nothing wrong with them other than minor scratches. For good deals on furniture, check out Value City in Lexington if you haven't already. Sometimes you have to search for good stuff, but we got our dining room table there for $60, because it didn't have chairs with it and had a tiny scratch on it. In Corbin, the Interstate Auction Furniture store can be fun - some things are dated, but there are also some nice things that are reasonably priced. If you are NOT on a budget, Arhaus Furniture in Lexington (and they have a website) has the most gorgeous furniture. Most of the chairs and couches can be customized because they slipcover everything with their own fabrics, of which they have about 2 million. If you are really wanting to get out for little money, there are plenty of homes around here with furniture on the porch and yard, and I'm sure they'd barter with you. :)
As a side note, PLEASE have your builder account for all his expenditures WITH RECEIPTS before you release a draw to him, and also make sure all the subcontractors and suppliers have been paid before doing so. This is from experience.
